Are Some People Just Lucky?

I used to believe that some people were just lucky. They had the perfect body, the perfect career, the perfect, positive mindset - and/or the perfect blood sugar levels.

There's nothing the rest of us can do, right?

We just weren't born under a lucky star...

Age and experience have taught me that there's no such thing as perfect.

What we see is not always the whole story.

BUT - it's also true that those seemingly perfect people are usually the ones who work damn hard for their goals, often making decisions that others won't, in relentless pursuit of their passion.

Ultramarathoners do not just show up and run 100 miles. They train relentlessly, they master their habits and do the work whether they want to or not. They run through rain and snow, doing what most won't do. And many argue that distance sports such as marathons, ultras, and triathlons are even tougher mentally than they are physically.

Likewise, the people you see online achieving those 5% (and lower) A1cs are not there because it was easy. They've made huge changes, including some that most won't make, to achieve what most won't achieve. They've built solid lifelong habits around their pursuit of steady, predictable blood sugar levels.

A while back, I posted on our FB page about two key elements to optimal diabetes management.  >> You can watch it here

Spoiler alert: It's #1) information and #2) habits.

We, as people with T1D, often aren't handed the next step to take to improve our health and wellbeing, and most of us have to search for the rules on our own.

We're here to put a stop to that relentless searching, with hours, days, weeks spent online like I did back in 2013-2014, looking for answers.

As you may know, diaVerge is a diabetes education & coaching company.

  • If you’re ready to learn the how of optimal diabetes management, we’ll hold your hand and guide you every step of the way as you learn to do it yourself.

  • If you want to learn how to form a growth mindset to improve ALL aspects of your life, and focus on all the many elements that are within your power to change, we can help.

  • If you need accountability, tips, and coach to cheer you on, we're here for you.

  • If you need in-depth blood sugar analysis and advanced problem-solving to help you get to that 5.0% A1c, that's what we do every day.

Sounds great, right?

It is... but there's one downside.

We can't do the work for you.

Like a triathlete or ultramarathoner, you still have to show up, do the work, and build daily habits to help you reach your goals.

All the information and guidance in the world is useless if you don't put it into action.

"If you want something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you have never done.”

— Thomas Jefferson

"Keep challenging yourself to think better, do better, and be better.”
