Introducing our newest Diabetes Coach Educator, Pat Rowe!
Patrick was diagnosed with T1D at 13 years of age and managed in the typical way until about ten years ago when he started to read about and apply low-carbohydrate eating strategies. Since transitioning to low-carb, he has become very passionate about nutrition and lives by the principle that low-carb food should be tasty and satisfying.
Patrick graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor of science in Biology and then completed his Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine and Translational Science at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. His dissertation research focused on cardiovascular complications caused by diabetes. Patrick then completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida studying type 1 diabetes at the UF Diabetes Institute.
While Patrick loves research, after his postdoctoral fellowship, he realized he is passionate about communicating knowledge of disease processes to help others make health and lifestyle decisions. With this in mind, he completed his Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Epidemiology, at the University of Florida and is a Certified Health Coach.
When Patrick isn't helping clients meet their health goals, you can find him exploring the outdoors through hiking, trail running, mountain biking, and road biking. Patrick also enjoys low-carb cooking and baking and spending time with his wife, two kids, and dog.
We’re thrilled to have Patrick join the diaVerge team to help more people with type 1 diabetes gain control over their health.
